You will only receive one bill each month which reflects the room rental pricing, but includes all of these services:
1. The room rental, use of all the common areas in your apartment, and all the facilities in the building - remember to book them, we like spontaneity, but some amenities require prior arrangements!
2. All utilities, such as electricity, water, and gas (depending on the building).
3. Fast Internet (1Gbps fibre broadband).
4. Professional weekly cleaning of the common areas and of your private bedroom.
5. Maintenance: we will cover all maintenance of the apartment. At minimum, we will service the air conditioning units.
In Singapore, there is a minimum stay of three months with Casa Mia Coliving. It’s not us, it’s the law. The Singapore URA has set a framework for residential home-sharing, including a minimum stay.
Following the minimum stay, your contract will be on a month-by-month basis. We also have longer-term contracts (six or 12 months), with better rates than the three month ones. Ask us about this option.
Yes! All the rates on our website are for a 12 month commitment. We have special rates for students at selected schools for less than 12 months.
Ask your admissions office or ask us to see if your school qualifies.
A valid form of identification (passport/ID/IC) and proof of your immigration status (if you are not a citizen) with at least three months validity. Ah yes, and you will need to pay your first bill (credit card or transfer, as you like)!
Have a look at our website, there are housemates’ details (age group, profession and gender) under each home!
When you inquire about a room with us we will send you a few different options of rooms that fit your requirements. Alongside this, we will send a questionnaire. It is a great way for us to gauge your character and where you would fit in. Once we have received your results we move on to the next steps. If you’d like to come and see a room in person, we would ask you to take the screening survey before doing so (it’s for both of us to save time).
We want all of our members to have an amazing experience with us and therefore make it one of our main priorities to have a harmonious coliving community. We foster this through various activities but most importantly through our member selection process. Once you move into a coliving home it is important that you feel comfortable around your housemates. Although you have a private bedroom you’ll still be sharing communal areas such as the kitchen and living room. Not only do we want you to feel comfortable in your home but we also want you to feel welcomed and respected in our extended coliving community. This survey will assess certain personality aspects for us to make informed decisions on what home you would be best suited to.
Apart from the basic demographics, whether or not you have previous coliving experiences or not, and other general information, this survey looks at four different components that are relevant to coliving.
1. Overall personality
2. Dark personality
3. Communal orientation
4. Interpersonal trust
Collectively, these components help us gain a holistic picture of the individual wanting to join Casa Mia. From these results, we can make a more informed decision as to whether Casa Mia Coliving is the right fit for you and if so, which home you’d be best suited for.
Last year we had a third-year psychology student at the National University of Singapore, join us for an internship. Along with a faculty member, who provided guidance, he helped devise this survey tool as well as the analytical approach to help Casa Mia gain a deeper understanding of the social and interpersonal dynamics of our member landscape. To understand our existing coliving community Zachary administered a first round of surveys, which ultimately helped him identify which traits were crucial for members to thrive in a coliving community. This survey was based on extensive research, literature reviews, and focus groups. With these results, we identified the main traits that would lead to a successful coliving experience.
We will take into consideration an individual's preferences and requirements such as budget, location, and room type but ultimately we look at how the individual will fit into the coliving apartments. We strive to balance the housemates' profiles in each home in terms of gender, age group, nationality, and profession. To do so we actively match new members to existing homes. To give you more insights into what homes would suit you best we have an ‘ideal for’ section on our home. Balancing member profiles not only helps to foster cultural exchange but also ensures our members have a comfortable living experience staying in our homes. It additionally ensures a more balanced gender ratio in each home and allows you to mingle with others in a similar age range to you. If there isn’t a suitable option that fits their requirements as well as being a match with the home you may try looking for another room in the future!
All you have to do after signing the membership agreement is to move yourself in, no furniture required, just bring yourself and your luggage! At Casa Mia Coliving, we provide beautiful spaces for our members to enjoy. Every home comes fully equipped with everything you need to start enjoying your new living quarters, from high-end functional furniture to appliances and kitchen essentials.
1. Your monthly room rent, prorated to cover you until the end of the month.
2. If it is already the 25th of the month, you will also be charged for the following month
3. Your security deposit (one month rental charge)
4. One-time only membership fee of $200
In Singapore, you are responsible for your Stamp Duty (of 0.4% of the lease value). If you want, we can process that for you at no extra cost, and we will add it on your first bill.
Of course! You will get a statement for it the day after you move out, minus major damages (there won’t be any, right? :-) ), and it will be in your account within minutes (or days), depending on the form of payment you choose.
Convenience, comfort and a welcoming community.
All bedrooms include everything you need, such as bed linens, hangers and bedroom storage containers. The kitchens are equipped with pots, pans, dishes, and other kitchen essentials, suitable for a basic meal for few or for a dinner party for many. When you first move in, we will welcome you with basic supplies, so that you don’t have to run to the supermarket immediately.
At Casa Mia, we periodically arrange community events to encourage members to mingle with one another, subject to Covid-19 safety regulations, of course! You will have opportunities to meet people from around the world, to share with and learn from each other.
Yes, this is your home! Remember to let your housemates know in advance, when possible.
If you need a change of scenery or a bigger room, simply put in a request (after the 3 month occupation period).
All of Casa Mia homes adopt a strict no-smoking policy. That includes your private room (and your own balcony, if you have one).
Unfortunately, we have a no-pets policy, since all our homes are shared among multiple members. In the future, we may consider providing units dedicated to pet owners.
In whichever way it is most convenient for you. PayNow, bank transfer, or Credit Card (with CardUp); if you are transferring money from overseas, we recommend Transferwise.
You will receive a bill on the 25th of every month, for the following month.
If you are using the washer and dryer in your apartment, you do not need to pay anything extra. If you are using one of our laundry pickup/delivery services that we have recommended, you will pay them directly (we have a promo code in our member’s group, especially for you!)
No, private room cleaning is included in your monthly bill.
You can send in a maintenance request and we will reply to you within 24 hours (or less for emergencies). At Casa Mia Coliving, we make sure our homes are in tip-top condition, and we value members’ comfort. Let us know what you need and we will do our best to resolve any issues as quickly as we can.
Yes, you can! Simply keep your door locked and our cleaners will not clean your bedroom.
Yes, it does. You get two sets of sheets when you move in. Our cleaners will change them for you, all you need to do is provide the cleaned bedsheets (unless you opt out of the bedroom cleaning for that week).
We will be sad to see you go! All members will have to inform us 30 days in advance of the date you wish to move out, and this moving-out date must be later than the end date of the minimum commitment period.
You should not have anything to settle. You will receive a statement of your final bill from us after you have moved out, and we will refund your deposit.
